DNA
ultimately codes for what macromolecule?
Proteins
What
monomer is that macromolecule made up of?
Amino Acids
Where
in the cell does the production of this macromolecule occur?
Ribosomes
DNA
never leaves the nucleus, so what molecule carries the instructions that DNA
gives?
RNA
After this we started looking at the interactive reader on this topic. This chapter is about how we go from DNA.......
That gross snotty stringy stuff we extracted from the strawberries |
To US!! This is known as the "Central Dogma"
We then started into the following notes.
DNA on the left, RNA on the Right |
I had you look at the second page of your interactive reader as a guide to going through transcription with your DNA models. |
You unzipped the DNA and started to add the RNA bases. Everything pairs up as it did with DNA only if there was a White (Adenine) on the DNA side it coded for Purple (Uracil) on the RNA side.) |
This continued until it reached the end of the gene |
At that point the DNA zips back up again and the RNA is released. |
I then had you watch the first part of the following video to show you how this actually happens in our cells.
