During translation, mRNA is read in a series of 3
nucleotide bases known as CODON
These are recognized by tRNA which bring in the corresponding
Amino Acid that they code for.
The end result of translation is a Protein (Chain of amino acids)
We then walked through our translations models one last time using the following images and finished the class period off with our Daily Question Quiz.
We then walked through our translations models one last time using the following images and finished the class period off with our Daily Question Quiz.
First we started with a Ribosome, an mRNA, and some tRNA |
First up...... AUG which codes for Methionine... |
This is how I found Methionine |
Next up.. CUU - The methionine now forms a peptide bond with the next amino acid. Lets see what that one is |
CUU codes for Leucine (Leu) |
It keeps going until we hit UGA... Which codes for... |
STOP |
And the protein is released |
This was our final amino acid sequence |
