Monday October 3rd - Day 1 of Properties of Water Activities (Cohesion and Surface Tension)

Monday was jam packed full of activities - but to start us off - here were our Daily Questions!
I did not have you write out the notes about cohesion, instead you referred to your "Unique Properties of Water" book pages that I printed out for you.
We specifically looked at Cohesion and how Cohesion is responsible for surface tension.
This included filling a jar of water to the VERY top (and actually slightly over) and then, adding to that ALREADY FULL glass of water, as many pennies as you could.  You were able to see water's cohesive nature by seeing that the water resisted spilling over the beaker until the force below (by the pennies) was too great.   You also noticed that the top of the water seemed to have a "film" pulling down on it.  That was due to surface tension.
